This unique online virtual conference + exhibit will tell stories of Latinx professionals in the Video Game and Tech sector  to inspire and encourage Latinx youth to pursue opportunities in STEM. Our panels and featured speakers will explore the Video Game industry from the lens of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Latinx students are currently the largest minority group in the public school system, but they score lower than the national averages on math and science achievement tests  and enroll at significantly lower levels. Latinx students are underrepresented in undergraduate and graduate STEM programs and are not sufficiently exposed to STEM subjects at the K -12 Levels.

The inaugural Latinx Game Jam is a month-long online event that begins at the start of National Heritage Month September 15, 2020 and ends on October 15, 2020. Latinx Game Jam will allow tomorrow’s Latinx Gamedev leaders to step up and promote creative collaboration and experimentation across different Latinx communities, uniting Latinx Game Development leaders across the globe. By working together we can encourage each other’s creativity and experimentation. This is a no pressure game jam, with a whole month to get your game up and running! Games created during Latinx Gam Jam will qualify to be a part of the official game selection process for Latinx Games Festival and the Latinx Game Awards.

The inaugural Latinx Game Awards is a celebration of the amazing work and accomplishments that the Latinx community have been doing in the video game Industry. From Latinx game developers, streamers, eSports personalities, voice actors, games journalists and everyone in between! The Latinx Game Awards will be a part of the Latinx Games Festival from November 21st – 22nd.

Latinx Games Festival is the definitive video game industry event for Latinx game development, and provides the Latinx game development community a platform for global opportunities.

Highlighting Latinx industry professionals on panels and Q&A’s on our livestream will show the world that we’re already here, and what skills and tools are needed to exist and thrive in this industry. Showcasing an Arcade of Latinx produced games curated locally and around the world will lead to a richer, more mature video game industry and one that positively impacts the future of Latinx game development.
